What are the most common/ general fish lures in the US?

Alright, I am just packing an emergency fishing kit for my back country bag and I have no idea what lures to pack? I have a minimal fishing experience obviously so I had to ask. I usually trek on Wisconsin wilderness and the nearby states. Any recommendations? If you have links to online stores, please share.

small daredevil spoons. yellow with black or red diamonds on the back (best spoon ive fished to date)

and of course dont forget bare hooks you can always usually dig up a worm or a grub if you are stranded.

and inline spinner lure would be good for an alpine lake but they dont work as well for rivers

I am from Wisconsin, and the best lure any where is a common jig, light weight and you can add a worm to it or a grub worm found under logs or stumps, this basic lure will help you catch fish with line and tiped with live bait, worms, grubs, crickets, grasshoppers, flies, feathers.

this jig lure is the best.

Worms and bugs are always winners, and are easily catchable for bait. And they almost always will catch you fish. So definitely throw some sinkers, bobbers, and varying sizes of hooks in there.

You may also try plastic/rubber frogs and worms for bass as well as spinnerbaits.

Depends on the type of fish you hope to catch. Here are some lure and bait companies you can try:

    basspro.com
    tacklewarehouse.com
    cabelas.com
    cheap-fishing-lures.com

Even eBay and Craigslist will work.

    Good luck and happy fishing!

Fake worms. Come in packs of like 10, won’t break or take up much room. I prefer purple. I get them at Wal Mart.

Blue Tiger is on the right track, (thumbs up).

Here is what you need to pack and links to what they look like:

    1. 1/8 and 1/4 OZ Roundball Jigheads- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_89984____SearchResults

    2. 3"- 4" Curly-tailed Grubs in Black AND Chartreuse-http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15723____SearchResults

    3. Size 8 Aberdeen hooks- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_47507____SearchResults

    4. A variety pack of Split Shot- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_100730____SearchResults

    5. A small leader pack of 12LB Fluorocarbon line (at least 100 yards)- (FYI: Fluorocarbon has the same refractive index as water thus making it invisible underwater- more importantly- invisible to fish!!) 12LB is tough enough for larger fish and due to Fluro’s invisibility you will have no problems with "line shy fish" – http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_96676____SearchResults

    6. A spool of 6/20 Power Pro braided line- Braided line is EXTREMELY strong, (and could be used, in a pinch, as a lanyard line, fish stringer, to hold up a tarp, as an ANCHOR line, Etc.), but has a very low diameter making it perfect for fishing- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44282____SearchResults

    7. A pack of 5-8 Bobbers- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15810____SearchResults

    8.Johnson, Weedless Spoon- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_2904_100008003_100000000_100008000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_SEARCH

If you carry all of this you can catch Bass, Walleye, Pike, and Crappie. You may want to include some sort of fold-able shovel- to hunt for worms and natural bait…….

    Hope this helps ya?
